Street: Railway

Description

The rails stretch forward, disappearing somewhere beyond the horizon, as if they still hope trains will someday run along them again. The sleepers are warped, the metal has darkened and rusted in places, and tough, sickly grass breaks through between the rails. On one side is sparse forest, on the other an open emptiness where you can see too far... and that is not always comforting. Sometimes it seems safer to walk the rails; after all, it is a straight path. But it is too convenient to move here... and too easy to be seen. Trains have not run for a long time. But whatever sometimes comes along these tracks is better left unchecked.
